Yes, plenty of it too. Just near the border to Argentina in the southern area of Bolivia you have what can only be likened to a desert made of salt. Its white and its everywhere as far as the eye can see.
This vista formed the last part of a three night four day trip that went from Tupiza to Uyuni, covering some of Bolivia’s beautiful national park and heritage sites.
All the natural landscape looked like it was formed by some kind of miracle of nature, spectacular, odd, intriguing yet positively gorgeous.
This was done in a four by four car with a tour company driver and cook then 4 people in the jeep as passengers…so three other people for days…I had not really thought about it too much but luckily when crossing the border I met a cool young Belgian couple who I kind of ended up traveling with on this tour and beyond .The fourth member was a German guy, it was a peaceful considerate group with a fun vibe and no awkward silences. There was silence of course but nothing uncomfortable. Thank god!
We enjoyed the landscape together and share whiskey at altitudes of an evening. The tour was relentless with early morning and driving for long times, but very very worth it.
